Great, in 24 hours I will be back in my hometown, probably in bed by now, dreaming about braised duck, exploding fire crakers and balckjack sessions. It is time to forget about work, stress and depressing thoughts, and time to paint the town red. Oh wait, it's probably all red by now with all the decorations.
Well, Chinese New Year is not as exciting as it used to be. The air of expectancy just before the clock strikes 12 is missing. Maybe it's the toned down celebrations at home, or the drop in visitors, or could be the lack of lion dances in my neighbourhood, or the lower earnings from Ang Pow collection, or just blame it on the usual adult apathy. Anyway, I should stop moaning and enjoy the festivities. Long holidays with good food and great company don't come by often.
Happy Chinese New year to all of you who are reading this. Cut down on the 'Bak Kua' intake but don't skimp on the fun. You live only once.
